FUNDINGS & AMERICAN COLLEGE CREDITS

NIK|LAS.com offer programs with schools  that  accept CSN, Lånekassen and Bildungsurlaub students.  American university students may receive Academic Credits through our study-abroad experience.

In most cases, American colleges and universities are willing to approve study-abroad programs.

Academic Credits

Contact the Dean of the Foreign language department or Study Abroad office or International Office at your college/university prior to starting the program. Present your plan and ask exactly what is required in order to be assured that you will earn credits for your studies abroad. Take special note of the requirement, as you will have to follow them in order to obtain credits. Please inform us ahead of time and at your first of class about the requirements.

For American universities, one semester credit (3 points) usually corresponds to 40 hours of study.

The majority of our language schools offer courses that are recognized as « Bildungsurlaub » (further education for professionals) by several States in Germany.

This is a program in which German employees can take additional5-10 days of paid vacation in 2 years. Bildungsurlaub courses are recognized by the German government in 12 German federal states (Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hessen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Sachsen-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein). Employees who live and work in these federal states can solicit Bildungsurlaub to participate in one of our courses related to their profession.

Each region has a list of recognized courses and among them are listed several language courses. The course must be at least 6 hours per day and 5 days per week. The recognition of a course in one region can be valid for other regions, as in the case of Hessen, a region which accepts the courses recognized by the Niedersachsen region.

If you have been working for longer than 6 months in a company which is located within a region that recognizes the Bildungsurlaub law, you should follow these steps to register:

. Contact your employer: Inform your superiors of your intention to take vacation days under "Bildungsurlaub" at least 6 weeks before the start of the course, specifying the exact dates, duration and the type of course you wish to follow. You can choose between 5 or 10 days (as long as you haven’t followed a Bildungsurlaub course program the previous year).

ii. Registering with NIK|LAS.com: Register for the appropriate course, and inform us of your intention to solicit the Bildungsurlaub program.

iii. First confirmation: We will forward a Course Confirmation to show your company.

iv. Certificate: At the completion of the course you will receive a certificate with the dates of the course you attended, and if you present the Bildungsurlaub form it will be signed at the school.

German students please do contact us at info@nik-las.com for further information.
