WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM (WEP)
Work Experience Program Canada
WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
This program combines language training with paid work in a Canadian workplace. Students in this program will take courses to help them develop the language skills needed for finding work and succeeding in the workplace. Students will typically find jobs in the travel and hospitality industry.
This program combines English or French study with a paid general language practicum in a Canadian workplace. Placements are offered in 6-month to 2-year programs comprising of 50% academic and 50% paid internship components.
Complete a variety of language courses until your level allows you to take WEP preparation courses, which include business writing Skills and business Interview Skills. the recommended courses are designed to make you highly employable in the Canadian job market. The latter part
of the program is a paid internship where you put your language skills to the test in a real work environment.
Candidate's Profile
- You must be a least an high school graduate
- Demonstrate that you have previously applied for and secured a part-time job, full-time job or volunteer work. Professional work experience is not required, but is an advantage.
- The ideal candidate is positive, proactive and independent.
- Work & study permits required.
Structure of the Program
The NIK|LAS Study & Work Program consists of 3 phases:
1st: 3 months to 6 months of English or French language (available in Montréal, or Toronto).
2nd: Internship Preparation Courses.
3rd: The Work placement may last between 3 to 12months (available in Montréal, Toronto, or Vancouver).
I Part - Course
The program is designed to help improve your effectiveness as a French or English Speaker, so you can be more efficient in your work post. With a higher language level, you’ll be more likely to land a more interesting and potentially tip-earning position. Arrangements can be made to take extra courses before you start your Internship.
English courses build fundamental language skills by choosing courses from a variety of programs offered —Communication, academic preparation, test preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, Cambridge, IELTS), business and humanities.

II Part - Internship Preparation Courses
- Business Writing Skills: Gain skills in written communications such as business proposals, resumes and cover letters.
- Business English Interview Skills: Gain insight into the business interview process to prepare for success in your own interview.
- Choose one of the following business courses:• English: Business English, International Business Practices, Advertising Media or public Speaking / presentation Skills• French: work place preparation or International business Internship

III Part: The Work Placement Period
Internships are general language practicums and positions will be in industries such as tourism, hospitality and retail where the average wage ranges from $8–$15 CAD/hour. Students can work between 20–27 hours per week. Students will be required to submit monthly internship reports during their placement. If a student fails to submit monthly reports, they may be terminated from the program and reported to Immigration Canada.
Please note that WEP can make no promise of placement or specific interviews with employers. Successfully obtaining employment depends on the student's ability to apply what they learn through their academic and job preparation, their performance at the interview, as well as job market fluctuation. Keep in mind that positions are generally entry level and
vary depending on language skills and experience. Our staff will do their best to answer your questions, prepare you for success and satisfy your requests.

FRENCH PLUS WORK FRANCE
Paid Jobs program combines a French course (4 weeks minimum) in Biarritz, Montpellier, Nice, or Paris with job placement following the course in Montpellier, Nice, Paris, and other areas of France. You won't get rich, but you will earn enough to cover basic expenses.
You will work in a hospitality sector. The position offered is likely to be influenced by the applicant’s knowledge of French, previous professional experience, and academic level. Participants may occupy jobs in different departments.

With a higher level of French, you’ll be more likely to land a more interesting and potentially tip-earning position. Arrangements can be made to take extra courses before you start your Internship. In order to qualify for the work placement you must have an upper intermediate level of fluency.

You may work in Montpellier, Perignan along the French Riviére. Montpellier is located along the famous French Mediterranean coastline. It is one of France's most popular tourist region, with easy access to Barcelona in Spain, as well as, parts of Italy. The area's mild climate is the root attraction that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities.
Guaranteed work placements are arranged throughout France and mainly in the service sector.

We offer young student travellers the opportunity to experience the Italian culture firsthand. Learn or improve your Spanish language skills with an in-country course, and later put your new skills to good use while you work in one of the most famous tourist resorts of Italy.
After your Italian course (Standard), you will have the opportunity to work in the Coast of Lecce, allowing you to practice your Italian while financing your stay in Italy.

II Part: The Work Placement Period
You will work in Coast of Lecce area. It is one of Italy's popular tourist destinations. The area's mild climate is the root attraction that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities year round. You’ll likely work in the resort areas of Lecce. Work placements are in 3 to 5 star hotels.
Employers: Hotels, Fast Food restaurant, International Cuisine restaurant, Italian Supermarket, Restaurants/Coffee, Beach Bar Club, Cafeteria, and Golf Resorts.
Type of Positions: Bartender, Amusement park attendant, Waiter/Waitress, Kitchen assistant, Waiters’ Assistant (Runner), Hostess (in restaurants, cafes, bars, amusement parks...) or in general services like shops, boutiques....

Teach English Abroad
Get Certified to Teach English with us! Any of our TESL/TEFL TESOL certificates will qualify you for teaching English in private language schools in Italy or elsewhere in the world. You can gain certification for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in Florence, Italy.

We also offer Teaching Practice in Florence for 1 or 2 weeks. Only TEFL or TESOL certificate holders or current enrollees can be considered for Teaching Practice (and observation).
It includes:
- In class lesson planning;
- Observation of ESL/EFL teaching videos;
- Observations of live teaching practice with feedback;
- Teaching practice preparation time;
- Scheduled lesson planning help with professional teacher;
- Live teaching practice with experienced teacher observer with feedback;
- Access to job board; information CV/resume preparation session;
- Recommendation letter based on teaching practice.
At least two hours of Teaching Practice can be guaranteed and are required per week; other volunteer opportunities for teaching practice are often made available.

II Part: The Work Placement Period
This is a paid placement with a great opportunity to practice the language and gain international work experience, while you receive financial compensation. Doing the program for several months will give you time to really integrate and build relationships with peers. The position will depend on your English skills, motivation, length of stay, as well as your references.
The purpose of the program is that participants develop their skills while working to improve language, learning to deal with a new culture.
Minimum wage per hour: Approx. £4.98/hour - £6.08/hour (40 -45 hrs/wk)
