In 2007, The French government initiated a quality Insurance procedure within the French as foreign language schools in France. To address such situation, FRANCE through the participation of three ministries, Higher Education and Research, Foreign and European Affairs, and Culture and Communication, has decided to establish a certification system of the French foreign language centers established on French territory.

The International Association of Language Centres is an award-winning association of leading independent language schools worldwide that teach the language of their country. Inspected and quality assured schools, all accredited by IALC.  As a member of IALC, the school center has regular inspections by IALC inspectors as well as the obligation to provide Annual self-assessment returns and Quality plans.

The Cervantes Institute was founded by the Spanish government in 1991 with the sole purpose of promoting and diffusing the Spanish language and Spanish and Latin-American culture in general.

The Spanish Federation of Associations of Spanish schools for foreigners (fedele) was founded on the initiative of the regional associations of Andalusia Castile and Leon and Madrid. Among the main objectives of fedele are to represent the second language Spanish teaching sector in negotiations with the Spanish Government. Schools accredited by fedele agree to provide quality teaching and services, as well as student guarantees.

ALTO was established in 1998 in Miami-Florida, and have since has grown to an association of buyers and sellers of language travel programs and national language travel associations, with a presence in over 40 countries. ALTO's mission is to encourage "in country" learning of foreign languages.

The stated purpose of the British Council is "to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK [United Kingdom] and other countries and to increase appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements." To these ends, the British Council operates an accreditation scheme for English language schools, in order to help foreign students identify top-quality language schools where they can study English in the UK.

The British Accreditation Council (BAC) "has provided a comprehensive quality assurance scheme for independent further and higher education in the UK since 1984," says the organisation's website. " This accreditation is recognised the world over by students, agents and government officials as the clearest mark of educational quality in the private sector.".

In 2004, two previous associations (ARELS and BASELT) merged to form English UK whose "key roles are to promote quality and to represent our members´ interests. For students, enrolling at an English UK language centre is the best way to ensure that you have a good experience in the UK."

Under Tier 4 of the points-based system, all sponsors receive an 'A' or 'B' rating. The new Highly Trusted sponsor category is a further segmentation of this sponsor rating system. It is designed to identify those sponsors who have the highest levels of compliance with their sponsor obligations, and whose students are showing the greatest compliance with the terms of their visa or permission to stay.

Quality English (QE) brings together a selection of quality English language schools from around the world under one reliable brand. QE selects only established, independently managed English language schools of outstanding reputation.

The Portuguese Ministry of Education, (Autorização Definitiva nº 95, ao abrigo do despacho de 24 de Julho de 1986), this is the highest official recognition given to private schools in Portugal that recognize school centers that offer quality language courses.

INOFOR (Instituto para Inovação na Formação) This public institution was created in 1998 with the aim of encouraging the development of human resources and training in Portugal. To obtain a certification through this organization, a school center must meet stringent requirements for programs offered, courses, facilities, syllabus and qualifications of teachers.
